ABOUT US
We are Sahara and Zehra, co-founders of Home on Me. We’re both into art. We are both confused young and recent graduates trying to live in London’s cost-of-living crisis. We both have a blend of work ethic and healthy delusion. We seek to make the arts less Eurocentric, ableist and elitist. We explore innovative ways to give artists platforms, and to use the powerful medium of curation to tell beautiful stories.
We work with emerging artists at varying stages of their careers, giving them advice, helping them sell their work (online, at our emerging collectors events, and in our exhibitions) and through publishing their work on in artist interviews.
We also run a charity called the Empty Wall Project, where we teach colour theory, still life, charcoal drawing and ceramics to children. We've worked with the Afghan and Central Asian Association and The Red Cross, and are looking for more collaborators. Further, we run artist community events such as meet-ups, an arts book club and book-swaps.
Home on Me was born as an exhibition we collaborated on in our student days. Where an open call allowed for us to give students of all backgrounds a way to express what they consider home and how they carry it with them. The exhibition in February 2023 at Hoxton Arches was a great success, and so we became business partners after graduating from University of the Arts London. We registered as a business in early 2024, and have since progressed to different collaborations, paid projects and our own commercial shows.
